How to Become the Person You Were Created to Be

For years, Gary Lyamin helped brands find their voice and grow their presence online. But at some point, despite the success, something inside him shifted. It wasn’t burnout — it was a deeper question: Is this the life I’m meant to live?

That quiet question didn’t go away. Instead of brushing it aside, Gary gave it space. The result was a personal and reflective book — How to Become the Person You Were Created to Be — now available on Amazon Kindle. It’s not about chasing more; it’s about reconnecting with who you really are.

We spoke with Gary about what led to this transition, how his marketing background influenced the writing process, and what he hopes the book will offer readers who are searching for more meaning in their lives.

What made you decide to write something so personal?
Gary: I didn’t leave marketing behind, but I did take a step back. I needed room to think — and more importantly, to feel. I realized I had something worth sharing. Not to build a brand, but to leave something honest behind — for my kids, and maybe for others who feel the same way.

Did your marketing experience shape how you wrote or released the book?
Gary: Definitely. I’ve seen how important clear storytelling is. So, while the writing was unfamiliar territory, the process of shaping and promoting it was something I knew. What surprised me was how vulnerable it felt. Marketing is about clarity. Writing this book was about truth.

What do you hope readers take from the book?
Gary: That they can stop pretending. So many of us wear roles, masks — even in private. But before all of that, we each had a real voice. I want to help people get back to that voice. Not to fix themselves, but to be themselves.

What was the hardest part of writing?
Gary: Trusting myself. I’m not a trained writer. I just felt the book had to exist. The first drafts were shaky, but I kept going. The turning point was when I stopped trying to “write well” and just wrote honestly.

And what would you say to someone feeling stuck?
Gary: Turn down the noise. The mind — the ego — will always find reasons to keep you in place. But underneath that, there’s usually a quiet knowing. You already have the answer. You just need to get quiet enough to hear it.

Gary Lyamin didn’t reinvent himself — he just listened more closely. How to Become the Person You Were Created to Be is less about finding a new path and more about returning to one that always existed — just beneath the surface.

Sometimes, that’s where the real transformation begins.
