Given the sheer volume of electronics most of us have in our homes, it’s not surprising that unsightly wires constitute a significant source of frustration for many homeowners. But there’s no need to live in a cluttered, tangled mess! With a little creativity and effort, it is possible to conceal almost any type of wire in your home. Here are four clever ways to do just that:

Contents
1. Use Skirting Boards2. Use Decorative Molding 3. Use Cord Channels4. Use Trash Bags

1. Use Skirting Boards

Skirting boards are a great way to hide wires and cables, and they can also be used to conceal other unsightly features of your home, such as pipes and cables. Skirting boards are typically made from wood, plastic, or metal and come in various shapes and sizes. The most common type of skirting board is the traditional wooden board attached to a room’s baseboard. But metal and plastic versions can also be attached directly to walls or floors.

Installation is usually pretty simple, mainly if you use pre-cut boards. Just measure correctly, mark the spots where you want to install them with a pencil, drill pilot holes if necessary, and then use screws or nails to attach them permanently. Be sure to caulk around the edges for a finished look.

2. Use Decorative Molding

One of the easiest and most stylish ways to hide wires is using decorative molding. This can be done on walls or ceilings, and there are various options to choose from, including crown molding, chair rail molding, and baseboard molding. Measure the area where you want to install the molding and order the appropriate size. Then, use a saw to cut the molding to fit and attach it to the wall or ceiling with nails or screws. You can even paint or stain the molding to match your décor. This will help it to blend in and be less visible.

3. Use Cord Channels

If you don’t want to go to the trouble of installing molding, cord channels are a great alternative. These plastic or metal channels can be attached to walls or ceilings and are designed specifically for concealing wires. Run the wires through the channel and attach them to the desired surface.

Cord channels come in various sizes, so choose one that will accommodate all of your wires. And like molding, you may need to drill holes to thread the wires through. But cord channels are much easier to install than molding and can still give you a professional, finished look.

4. Use Trash Bags

This may sound like an odd solution, but it can be quite effective. If you have wires that are running along the floor, place them in a trash bag and then secure the bag to the floor with duct tape. This will not only hide the wires but also protect them from being damaged by foot traffic.

You can also use this method to conceal wires running along walls. Ensure the trash bag is securely fastened, so it doesn’t sag or bulge. And if you want, you can even paint over the trash bag to match your wall color.

Hiding wires don’t have to be difficult or expensive. With a little creativity, you can easily conceal any wire in your home. These four methods are just a few ways you can do it. So put your thinking cap on and get creative! Your home will thank you for it.
