Strangers By Nature Recipe + PreparationHighlands Detroit Details

Every year, we eagerly await for ramp season, though it’s shortly lived. Usually ramp pearls are found in the classic Gibson cocktail, but this season, we head to Detroit, Michigan, for a special cocktail at the bar Highlands Detroit. John Sampson Neely, Head Bartender at Highlands Detroit, the creator of the exquisite cocktail “Strangers by Nature”, explains that “The cocktail is a celebration of the Midwest and the agricultural diversity of Michigan. Ramp season is a very small window for us all. This cocktail is a elevation of that time.”

In addition to the ramp pearl garnish, this cocktail also blends in ramp brine, which is just what we want to see at this time of year!

Strangers By Nature Recipe + Preparation

  • 1.5 oz Ford’s Gin
  • 0.5 oz Ramp Brine
  • 0.5 oz Dry Vermouth
  • 3 Dashes of org Bitters

Method: Build in glass, garnish with lemon oil, Ramp Pearl, Ramp Dust on the side of the glass. Use Nick and Nora glassware.
